Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay
320 pages
Delacrote Books for Young Readers
Age: 14 & up

Overview:

The most tragic love story in history . . .

Juliet Capulet didn’t take her own life. She was murdered by the person she trusted most, her new husband, Romeo Montague, a sacrifice made to ensure his own immortality. But what Romeo didn’t anticipate was that Juliet would be granted eternity, as well, and would become an agent for the Ambassadors of Light. For 700 years, she’s fought Romeo for the souls of true lovers, struggling to preserve romantic love and the lives of the innocent. Until the day she meets someone she’s forbidden to love, and Romeo, oh Romeo, will do everything in his power to destroy that love.

My Take:
This book unique twist to an old story. At first I thought this was going to be a light and cute read.  Well I was wrong, this story was action, romance, supernatural and adventure!  The story unfolded  leaving myself getting caught up in the twists and turns of what Juliet and Romeo were going through.  Each page filled with action, left me wanting to know what was going to happen next.  Was love going to win?  Was someone going to die?  Was Romeo and Juliet to be together again in their own bodies?

Romeo jumps into the body of Dylan who has plans that go awry. Romeo seems to taunt and want Juliet at the same time since he is the villain.  Juliet jumps into the body of Ariel and gets herself thrown into a whirlwind of emotions.  It seems Juliet/Ariel finds romance, friendship and family during her time in Ariel’s body.  Juliet always seems to turn Romeo down with truth and honesty.

The ending was perfect and there were no cliff hangers at all.  The whole story had a strong sense on the matter of love.
